Though God showed His justice in expelling Adam and Eve from the Garden, He also simultaneously showed His great mercy. God delayed their physical death so to provide opportunity for repentance. We also read that the first death was of an animal God Himself sacrificed to cover the shame and nakedness of man. Man began, as commanded, to sacrifice animals to pay for their sins. The wages of sin is death. However, because an imperfect animal could never truly take away the sins of man, God then also made the final sacrifice...The death of His only Son Jesus. Jesus' death on the cross appeased God's divine and just wrath against sin while demonstrating His mercy towards the sinner. Any one who repents of their sins, believing Jesus has truly accomplished these things and confesses Him as their Lord and Savior, God is faithful and just to forgive them of their sins and save them.
